Legislative agenda

Despite Democrats controlling the Senate and White House - with President Joe Biden's veto power a potential roadblock to legislation success- Republicans in the House of Representatives still have options. By introducing "messaging bills" that emphasize their political agenda, they can shape conversations around important issues while working within their new parameters.

President Biden has made it clear that he is ready to tackle the toughest of challenges facing our nation: inflation, crime and border security. He even left the possibility open for impeachment proceedings if needed - a concept already being pushed by some in his party's ranks.

With the looming threat of a government shutdown and many other divisive issues on the horizon, it remains to be seen whether Republicans and Democrats can join forces in order to reach mutually beneficial solutions.

Investigative agenda

House Republicans are mounting an extensive investigation into the Biden administration and their ambitious agenda includes utilizing investigative powers to scrutinize any potential vulnerabilities. With subpoena power at its disposal and oversight of powerful committees, the GOP plans to take a closer look at several key elements within President Joe Biden's new White House--from personnel appointments, cabinet picks, policy decisions and more!

Rep. James Comer, the next leader of the House Oversight Committee, recently announced plans to investigate whether Hunter Biden's foreign connections have swayed President Joe Biden politically in any way and if he is a compromised president that is open to influence from abroad. This inquiry looks set to be one of this Congress' most closely monitored investigations as it could potentially impact US policy decisions moving forward.

Congressman Comer and the House Oversight Committee have set their sights on uncovering any suspicious financial activity of former Vice President Joe Biden's son Hunter. To get to the bottom of it, they plan to analyze over 100 reports that could be connected in some fashion. Of course, this investigation has been met with stiff opposition from The White House who are adamant that these investigations amount to nothing more than political posturing - but Congressman Comer is determined not back down until he knows every detail regarding possible wrongdoing within the family.

Congressman Jim Jordan, widely tipped to head the House Judiciary Committee, asked Attorney General Merrick Garland for documents detailing DOJ 'targeting' of Project Veritas and an FBI search at former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. This sought after information comes as part of a wider investigation into possible misconduct within both the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau Investigation.

The southern border. After winning the majority, Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas telling him and other department officials to be prepared to testify.

The Afghanistan withdrawal. Biden’s decision to remove US troops from Afghanistan in 2021 led to a frantic attempt by many Afghans to flee the county, with devastating scenes of people clinging to the wings of planes as they tried to escape before the Taliban government officially assumed power. Republicans have signaled that they are eyeing potential probes into the events.

Covid-19 origins. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the top Republican on the Energy and Commerce panel, has said that “how the pandemic started, that’s probably the most important public health question that needs to be answered.” Two studies released last year both concluded that a seafood market in Wuhan, China, was most likely the epicenter for the virus.
